It
began with a phone call from KOIN-TV manager, Howard Kennedy.
Gary had been busy acquiring a construction permit from the F.C.C. with
plans to build a new Christian-Family T.V. station in Portland, Oregon.
The number of competiting applicatants, however, made it apparent that
Gary Randall and his coalition of Portland area pastors would probably
not prevail in the three-year process. In
August of 1978, Gary Randall received a phone call from KOIN-TV station
manager, Howard Kennedy and soon after scheduled a meeting. Kennedy expressed
an interest in doing a daily inspirational program with Gary Randall as
host. An agreement was formed, a contract signed, and on the first Monday
morning of October, 1978, the Gary Randall Program began. It was aired
every weekday morning until 1990. During
those twelve years, it was syndicated to a number of stations in large
markets around the country and broadcast daily by satellite on the Family
Channel and the Inspirational Network. Throughout
the twelve years of it's existence, nearly 3,000 programs were produced
and aired. Each program brought to the viewer inspirational interviews
with best-selling authors, world leaders, and entertainers of that time.
Thousands of people participated in the studio audience. Read Articles:
